Cricket originated in England, in the 16th century, Cricket is considered the world’s second most popular sport in the world after football. Influenced by British rule, today’s cricket countries are former members of the Commonwealth, including India, Pakistan, England itself, and Australia. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the Governor body or Head of the matches in India. The BCCI decides the matches which are played in India. The BCCI focused on increasing the number of matches instead of creating new value for cricket fans. The opening season of IPL in 2008 was more than successful; over 200 million people watched the opening season. During the semi-final and final matches 50% of cable connections and satellite TV watched the matches in Indian houses. In the year of 2014, IPL ranked in sixth position among all the sports leagues. In 2010, it was the first league that was broadcast on YouTube.

Group A – Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings.
Group B – Gujrat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, Lucknow SuperGiants.

Format of IPL: Each team will play in a specific format… ….

  • Have to play twice against four teams in their group.
  • Play twice against one preplanned team from another group.
  • Once against the left four teams from the opposite group.

IPL 2025  Schedule

The opening match of IPL 2025 will be the face-off between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Eden Gardens stadium(Kolkata).

History of IPL
