OMG! Power Outage in areas of Chennai
Chennai several places are informed of power cuts for 5 hours. It’s a difficult time for the residents of that area to breathe in this horrible summer heat. This Power outage is due to the maintenance work. It’s on March 18th, 2025, from 9 am to 2 pm at noon. Also noted is that if possible, we could pack up the work early so the power supply will be restored immediately.
Residents are informed that several areas will be in power shortage from morning 9 am to noon 2 pm. It will take place because of maintenance work in process, power can be supplied earlier if the work is completed on time. Residents are informed to reset the schedule prior.
Areas will be Affected.
Redhills: Durgas Road, Sri Bala Vinayagar Nagar, Kannampalayam, Gomathiamman Nagar, Sirangavur, Pudhu Nagar 3rd Street & 5th Street, Sendrampakkam, Mallima Nagar.
The maintenance work took place to shift the High Tension (HT) poles given the stormwater drain. So that the power supply will last for the long term. This is under the Electricity Act 1948 in Tamil Nadu as a vertically integrated utility responsible for power generation, transmission, and distribution. As per the provisions under Section 131 of the Electricity Act 2003, TNEB was restructured on November 1, 2010, into TNEB Limited, Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO), and Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation Limited (TANTRANSCO). The Last Power Supply in Chennai.
The Last Power Supply was cut in the Chennai area on March 8, 2025, for the installation of an additional 10MVA transformer at the 110/KV Alamathi Substation to meet the summer demand. The power supply cut was from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
