Race to Preserve History: Councilmember Traci Park raced against time to protect Monroe's final residence after learning of demolition permit requests by the owner, Glory of the Snow Trust.

Demolition Permit Issued: Despite swift efforts, the Department of Building and Safety issued a demolition permit before intervention could take place.

Passionate Defense: Councilmember Park made a passionate plea to consider Monroe's home as a historic cultural monument, emphasizing its significance to the city's history and heritage.

Immediate Action Motion:  The motion presented to the council called for immediate consideration of the home's historic-cultural monument status without depriving the property owner of rights.

Public Voices Concerns: Angelenos voiced their opinions during the meeting, with some questioning the urgency amid a homeless crisis and others stressing the importance of preserving historical monuments.

Preserving Heritage:  Stacey Segarra-Bohlinger, a neighborhood council representative, highlighted the duty to protect historical monuments and criticized developers for personal gain.

Unanimous Council Decision: The L.A. City Council unanimously voted to move forward with considering the home for historic-cultural monument status.

Temporary Building  Permit Stay:  Councilmember Park emphasized the immediate temporary halt on building permits during the consideration by the cultural heritage commission and City Council.
