Women’s World Cup Hits Record TV Viewership For Group Stage

The roughly 6.43 million viewers watched the U.S. women’s national team on both Fox and Fox Sports digital, according to  Fox Sports. 

The viewership tally narrowly surpassed the 6.26 million viewers who tuned in for the U.S. 

women’s team 3-0 victory over Vietnam in the first match of the group stages earlier this month, including in English and Spanish-language television. 

Both of the U.S. team’s first two group stage matches were aired in primetime in the U.S., with both matches airing at  9 p.m.  

The U.S. currently has a goal differential of +3 compared to the Netherlands’ +1. 

Portugal would advance while the Americans would need a combination of outcomes to advance, including a Netherlands loss and for the Dutch team to finish behind the U.S. in goal differential.
